Daegu Alleys Tour |
|
|
Daegu Alleys Tour provides a chance for visitors to experience the modern culture and history of Korea. The tour is mainly organized with 3 traces: modernization of Korea, western missionaries and independent movements against Japanese colonialism.
The process of modernization of Korea can be checked on the alleys. The site of Samsung Trading Company which was a mother company of Samsung and birthplace of Samsung’s chairman Byung-chull Lee can display how Korea started its rapid economic development.
The European style buildings brightened with lights were for the places of western missionaries. The missionaries who settled down 130 years ago tried to evangelize Korean by founding churches, schools, and hospitals. Those buildings are used until now as museums and filming locations with time backgrounds in early 20C.
Also, the alleys are footprints of independent movements: the origin of National Debt Repayment Movement, March 1st Movement, and residence of nationalists.
Visiting these historical attractions that have vivid stories will help tourists imagine the life of Korean in 1900’s.
The downtown main street of Dongseongro is referred to as “a street of youth”. You can choose between browsing in lavish department stores or bustling street shops. There are several streets specialized for clothing, shoes, and electronics, and much more. Also, a range of tempting restaurants and lively pubs can be readily found. The center of downtown is crowded with young Daegu citizens during the day and night time. This is a perfect place to feel an atmosphere of youth in Daegu.
Thus, Daegu Alley’s tour will be a perfect tour for participants who want to enjoy meaningful historical attractions and the city life, at the same time.
